The egoistic, outraged and simple-minded often fail to learn from the mistakes of the past! A case in point is the upholding of Afumba Mombotwa and two other Barotseland independence leaders’ subordinate court conviction by Zambia’s Supreme Court. And yet, to draw valuable lessons, the Zambian state would not have needed to look any further than the 1963-1964 Rivonia trial at which the iconic global champion in the struggle against white domination of the majority black South Africans, Nelson Mandela and seven of his comrades were condemned to life imprisonment with hard labour on charges of conspiracy, sabotage and treason, for simply advocating the freedom and equality of their people!

We love Afumba Mombotwa for his leadership and patriotism. However, he and others on trial today need all of us to demonstrate our own love and patriotism by financially carrying them through this difficult moment!

We must urgently donate towards their legal fees today! CALL: +260963705855 OR write us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

NO AMOUNT IS TOO LITTLE OR TOO MUCH! ONLY DO YOUR BEST!

They alone and their families cannot pay legal fees! They are currently in jail and on trial because of their love for Barotseland!

So, will you help them today to ensure that they continue receiving professional legal help?

Urgently required is money for the lawyer to continue looking at their legal affairs in Ndola until their case is disposed of in the Supreme Court currently sitting far away from Barotseland in Ndola on the Copperbelt region of Zambia.

It is a total lie to allege that to resolve matters arising out of the 1964 agreement, the Zambian government must only deal with the Litunga because it is his signature on it. In fact, even if they made Kenneth Kaunda and Lubosi Imwiko II sign an agreement today, it would not constitute a legitimate national agreement as long as the people were sidelined prior to signing it.

Barotse people must, therefore, not be deceived by the Zambian government officials when they claim that the Litunga is the ‘only authority’ they recognize in Barotseland and that he wields such immense powers as to act and make critical national decisions over Barotseland unilaterally! They only use this claim to blackmail Barotse people into accepting the government schemes over Barotseland using the Litunga’s ascribed sovereign powers!

As predicted, Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba’s SABC appearance to try and deny credible assertions made earlier by two Linyungandambo youths about Zambia’s atrocities in Barotseland was full of nothing but perpetual lies peddled by the Zambian state for the longest of time.

Apparently, Zambia has always tried to put up a front before the world that Barotseland is a non-issue! In their delusion, they believe that if they lied repeatedly, their lies would turn into truth. Unfortunately, however, no matter how many times a lie is parroted, it will forever remain a lie! If it is a non-issue, why do they always suffer painful jitters each time Barotseland is mentioned outside Zambia?

Zambia’s Chief government spokesperson, Dora Siliya, must shut up rather than trying to threaten South Africa’s state broadcaster, SABC TV, for featuring members of the Linyungandambo Youth League (LYL) on their ‘The Globe’ show through which the Barotse youths revealed to the world the atrocities that her government is committing in Barotseland.

In her shameless threat, Dora says her government will officially lodge a complaint to the South African government over the particular SABC television program and its anchor who interviewed the two youths for unethical conduct. But what does the Zambian government know about media ethics when it has largely muzzled its own national Broadcaster, ZNBC, and shut down any private media which has tried to operate professionally! In our view, and many will agree with us, SABC is a hundred times more professional and ethical than her own country’s national Broadcaster which only parrots Zambia’s ruling party and its government!

A month ago, this publication announced the release from prison of Afumba Mombotwa, Inambao Kalima and Likando Pelekelo, after what was understood to be a finalized court dismissal of their ten-year prison sentences by the Supreme Court.

Apparently, the three Barotse Political Prisoners are still incarcerated in their respective prisons. A check at Zambia’s Luwingu, Kasama and Mansa State Prisons has confirmed that the three are still indeed incarcerated in spite of the reported dismissal of their treason felony case.
