A call to national prayer and fasting

We wish to invite Barotse nationals, friends and sympathizers across the world to join us once again for a period of national prayer leading up to the Easter period of Good Friday (Crucifixion Friday), Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday (Resurrection Sunday).

Our prayer focus during this period:

1.  We pray for those imprisoned, sick and afflicted among us as the LORD admonished all believers through the writer to the Hebrews in the book of Hebrews 13:3 (Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body) ESV. Psalms 69:33 (For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners) ESV. Psalms 146:7 (Who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free;) ESV. Psalms 102:20 (To hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die,) ESV.

2.  We pray for our leadership (Barotseland, Zambia, regional and international) at various levels as they are confronted with various leadership and decision challenges, especially as they tackle the Barotseland question. May wisdom, justice and equity be their guiding principles. Scripture focus: 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior) INV.

3.  Peace, unity, harmony and togetherness. 1 Corinthians 1:10 (I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.) ESV. 1 Peter 3:8 (Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind) ESV. Romans 12:4-5 (For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.) ESV.

4. Finally, and most urgently, we should pray with anticipation for good and favorable judgment in the Barotse treason trial as our friends in Canada, Australia, America, the Philippines, Japan, South Africa, Botswana and the rest of the world look on and join us in hopeful expectation.
