Zambia Correctional Service authorities in Luwingu have blocked a letter which incarcerated Barotseland independence leader Afumba Mombotwa recently wrote to the Litunga (King) of Barotseland, Lubosi Imwiko II, the Zambia Watchdog has revealed.

 

A member of the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has charged that Zambian president Edgar Changwa Lungu cheated the BRE and the people of Barotseland that he was ready to dialogue on the Barotseland Agreement impasse, the Zambian Watchdog has reported.

Afumba Mombotwa, the Barotseland independence activist and Linyungandambo freedom fighting movement leader remains forgotten in Luwingu state prison in Northern Province serving a 10 year jail sentence.

 

Imprisoned Barotseland independence leader Afumba Mombotwa has castigated the Zambian state for its continued arrests, torture and imprisonment of the Barotse people as that was neither the solution to the Barotseland quest nor would it stop them from agitating for their homeland.

 

The Kufuluhela annual festival, the less publicized festival than Kuomboka, is set to take place this weekend.

While Kuomboka is the coming out of the flooded plains, Kufuluhela is the return to the rich soils of the plain once the water has subsided.

It is in reality the reverse of Kuomboka, and therefore, as spectacular as the Kuomboka water festival itself.

 

Honorable Likando Kalaluka imprisoned alongside Barotseland independence leader Afumba Mombotwa and Inambao Kalima has urged all citizens of Barotseland to stand firm for their motherland.
